Biometric Photo Requirements

For the most accurate facial analysis and tier rating, please adhere to the following strict photo guidelines. Our advanced computer vision algorithm relies on the precise detection of micro-landmarks across your face. Because the system calculates geometric ratios down to the pixel level, even minor optical distortions caused by poor lighting, incorrect focal lengths, or tilted camera angles can severely compromise the accuracy of your results. Treat this process similarly to capturing a clinical or passport photograph.

  • Lighting & Illumination: Face a natural light source, such as a large window, or use a ring light directly in front of you. It is crucial that the illumination is completely even across both hemispheres of your face. Harsh overhead lighting or side illumination creates artificial drop shadows that our engine might misinterpret as structural asymmetry, deep nasolabial folds, or uneven jawlines.
  • Camera Angle & Positioning: Hold your device exactly at eye level. Your phone should be completely vertical (no pitch, yaw, or roll). Do not tilt your head up to thin your neck, down to emphasize your eyes, or slightly to the side. You must look dead-straight into the camera lens, creating a perfect orthogonal projection of your facial planes.
  • Facial Expression: Maintain a completely neutral, resting facial expression. Keep your jaw relaxed with your teeth lightly touching, and your lips resting naturally. Do not smile, squint, flare your nostrils, or furrow your brow, as flexing facial muscles alters your baseline biometric distances (such as your bizygomatic width or philtrum length).
  • Focal Distance & Lens Distortion: This is the most common error. Hold the camera at least an arm's length (approximately 2 to 3 feet or 60-90 cm) away from your face. Smartphone cameras use wide-angle lenses that create severe barrel distortion when held too close. This optical illusion artificially enlarges your nose, widens your interpupillary distance, and drastically narrows your jawline, leading to an artificially lower harmony score.
  • Visibility & Obstructions: Ensure complete visibility of your facial contour. Remove all glasses, heavy jewelry, or hats. Pull your hair completely back and away from your forehead, temples, and cheekbones, as hair covering the sides of your face prevents the algorithm from accurately measuring your Face Width to Height Ratio (FWHR). Avoid heavy contouring makeup designed to artificially alter your natural bone structure.
